Opening of the Olympic Village
The Olympic Village officially opened its doors to athletes on the morning of Thursday, July 18. As the Games draw near, the first delegations are expected to arrive, marking the start of a wave of arrivals peaking at over 14,000 people during the busiest period of the Games. The arrival of athletes at the village is always a significant and symbolic moment during the Games.
Preparation and Arrival of Delegations
In the lead-up to the official opening, the Olympic Village had already been bustling with activity as delegation leaders and their teams prepared to welcome their respective groups. Athletes and staff from various countries, including prominent nations like England, the United States, Brazil, and Switzerland, are expected to be among the early arrivals.
Facilities and Accommodations
The French Olympic team, led by the women’s water polo team, will be among the first to experience the facilities at the Village. With 485 beds and over 900 square meters of communal spaces, the French contingent will have access to amenities such as a private fitness room, a social area with a large TV screen, snacking options, board games, and a foosball table.

Support Staff and Volunteers
Apart from athletes and team members, the Village will also host around 4,000 employees responsible for various operational tasks, such as cleaning and catering. Additionally, there will be 1,500 volunteers working to assist delegations on a daily basis, ensuring smooth operations and a welcoming environment for all participants.
