On Friday, August 2, the Democratic Party ended the speculation by announcing that Kamala Harris had secured enough votes to win the Democratic nomination for the U.S. presidential election. More than 2,350 delegates have already voted for Ms. Harris, making her the sole candidate in this election. Jaime Harrison, the Democratic Party president, stated that virtual voting was ensuring a candidate would be selected by August 7 to avoid legal issues in Ohio.

Harris’s Acceptance Speech

During a virtual call with her supporters, Ms. Harris expressed her gratitude for being the presumptive Democratic nominee for the U.S. presidency. She acknowledged the hard work of delegates, state leaders, and staff in making her nomination possible.
