The Search for Santiago
Santiago, a seventeen-day-old baby, was being treated as a premature baby in Aulnay-sous-Bois hospital near Paris. He has been actively sought since Tuesday evening following a public alert issued by the Belgian federal police and supported by the child protection association, Child Focus. The baby’s parents, both in their twenties, are suspected of the abduction. The Belgian search alert includes photos of the parents, detailed clothing descriptions, and an image of the dark blue Audi A4 with French license plate GR-956-ZV believed to be used by them.
Continued Investigation
In France, an AMBER Alert was in effect throughout Tuesday, aiming to disseminate specific information nationwide to swiftly locate the missing child. The French authorities lifted the AMBER Alert in the evening, but the search efforts continue. The baby, who requires continuous medical care as a premature infant, was allegedly taken to Belgium by the parents on Monday night.
Legal Actions and Findings
The parents, already known to law enforcement, are suspected of being involved in an organized abduction of a minor under fifteen. Five individuals, aged 16 to 29 and not related to the baby, were arrested and questioned by police on Tuesday morning. Surveillance footage revealed the parents leaving with the baby, accompanied by three others. Law enforcement authorities have been diligently working to locate the parents and the newborn while involving family members in the search efforts.
