Three Minors Injured in Gunshots Outside Restaurant in Poitiers
Gunshots wounded three minors, one critically, on Thursday, October 31, outside a restaurant in the Couronneries district of Poitiers, according to the public prosecutor of Poitiers, Cyril Lacombe. The police services in Poitiers were alerted at 10:46 pm by a private individual, reporting that “several gunshots” had been heard at Place Coïmbra, near a kebab restaurant. Law enforcement units quickly converged on the scene, where they found the first victim, a 15-year-old, on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, hospitalized in critical condition. Two other victims, with less serious injuries, later made their way to the hospital on their own, and their lives are not in danger. All the victims are minors born in 2008 and 2009 and residing in Poitiers.

The scene attracted around sixty people eager for information, prompting the police to use tear gas grenades to control the situation. Public officials emphasized that there was no property damage in the Couronneries district, which houses around 10,000 residents but noted the presence of significant drug dealing points that require police resources. The mayor of Poitiers highlighted the need for enhanced security measures and expressed concerns about escalating urban violence in the city.
